Hozier’s First No. 1 Hit Surges More Than 100% In Sales

Hozier scored an unexpected smash last year when he dropped “Too Sweet,” which first went viral, and then conquered the charts in the U.S. Months later, the tune’s sales are on the rise, and the single is bounding up the Billboard tallies once more.

“Too Sweet” sold another 3,100 copies last week in America, according to Luminate. That’s up 117% from the period before, when it was purchased by 1,400 people in the country.

Hozier’s blockbuster is selling well once again thanks to his recent performance on Saturday Night Live. He showcased the tune on the episode that aired on December 21, which was hosted by Martin Short, reminding Americans of how much they love the song.

All those purchases help “Too Sweet” grow on the Billboard tallies, though it was already doing very well on many of the lists it appears on at the moment. Among all the 10 rankings it finds a home on, the tune returns to just one. Hozier’s smash is back on the Digital Song Sales chart, where it re-enters at No. 7, becoming a top 10 win once more.

The collective buying of fans in the U.S. sends “Too Sweet” to the top spot on two purchase-focused rankings, ones which it’s already conquered in the past. Hozier bolts back to No. 1 on both the Rock Digital Song Sales and Alternative Digital Song Sales charts this week. It keeps at No. 1 on the Hot Rock Songs list as well.

“Too Sweet” misses out on leading the charge on both the Hot Rock & Alternative Songs and Hot Alternative Songs charts by just one space, as it holds in the runner-up rung. The tune is also steady in third place on the Rock & Alternative Airplay list, where it has previously dominated.

Hozier’s cut finds its way into the upper half of the top 10 on two more tallies, likely spurred upward by his SNL showing. “Too Sweet” lifts one rung to No. 5 on both the Alternative Streaming Songs and Alternative Airplay charts.

The single appears inside the uppermost arena on one final roster, where it’s performing the worst among the bunch…though it’s still hugely successful. Hozier lands at No. 10 on the Rock Streaming Songs chart, falling one slot, though it still manages to make space inside the top 10.

“Too Sweet” topped the Hot 100 in April, and his comeback shocked many in the music industry. It outpaced his breakout single “Take Me to Church,” which made him a rock star more than a decade prior. That song peaked at No. 2 on the chart, missing out on giving him his first leader by just one space.
